Custom song
Terms & refunds
The plain-English deal for a custom song with King Jonathan David Deak (Ignis Initium), released on Revolution Wreckords. By booking, you agree to these terms.
The short version
- $1,000 for a one-on-one songwriting session plus the finished, recorded song.
- Session within 30 days of booking. Finished song within 60 days after the session. Up to 2 rounds of changes.
- Full refund until the session. 50% back after the session. No refund once the song is delivered.
- You and King Jonathan David Deak each own 50% of the song as co-writers, and you are credited.
- He owns the recording. You can use it personally, forever, for free. If the song earns money, you get your share.
1What you get
- A one-on-one songwriting session with King Jonathan David Deak over video (about 60 to 90 minutes).
- The finished song: written, recorded, produced and mixed by him, delivered as a high-quality audio file (WAV and MP3).
- Up to two rounds of changes after you hear it (see section 4).
- Credit as a co-writer of the song, under the name you choose.
2Price and payment
The price is $1,000 (US dollars), paid in full when you book, through Stripe's secure checkout. Card details go to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us.
3Scheduling and timeline
- After you pay, we email you within 3 business days to schedule your session. The session takes place within 30 days of your booking, at a time that works for you both.
- You can reschedule once for free with at least 48 hours' notice. If you miss a session without notice, it counts as held.
- The finished song is delivered within 60 days after the session. If you gave us a date you need it by, tell us at booking and we will say up front whether we can make it.
- If you don't respond to scheduling emails for 90 days, we may close the order with a refund under section 5, based on how far it got.
4Changes (revisions)
After you hear the finished song, you can ask for up to two rounds of changes, such as adjusting lyrics, a name or detail, the arrangement, or the mix. Send all your notes for a round together. Each round is turned around within 14 days. A completely different song, or a different story, is a new commission. Extra rounds can be added by agreement.
5Refunds
| When you cancel | Refund |
|---|---|
| Any time before your songwriting session | 100% ($1,000) |
| After the session, before the finished song is delivered | 50% ($500) |
| After the finished song is delivered | No refund |
To cancel, email booking@ignisinitium.com with your order number (it starts with CS-). Refunds go back to your original payment method within 10 business days. Your bank may take a few more days to show it.
If we can't deliver your song for any reason on our side, or we miss the delivery deadline by more than 30 days and you no longer want it, you get a full refund. We may also decline an order before the session (for example, if the requested content is hateful, defamatory or something we can't write in good conscience), with a full refund.
If the order is cancelled after the session, the ideas and lyrics written together in the session stay co-owned 50/50, and neither of you may release them commercially without the other's written OK.
6Who owns the song
A song has two separate parts: the song itself (the words and melody) and the recording of it.
- The song: you and King Jonathan David Deak are co-writers and each own 50% of it, whoever wrote which line. You are credited as a co-writer wherever writers are listed.
- The recording: owned by King Jonathan David Deak, who records and produces it.
- Your personal use, free and forever: you can play and share the recording with family and friends, play it at weddings, memorials and other private or non-commercial events, and post it on your personal social media, as long as you don't earn money from it (for example through ads, sales or paid sponsorships).
At or after the session, you will both sign a short co-writer agreement (a "split sheet") confirming the 50/50 split and the terms on this page.
7Releasing and licensing the song
- King Jonathan David Deak (through Revolution Wreckords) may release the song and the recording, for example on streaming services, and license it, for example for film, TV, ads or cover versions. He handles registering the song with music rights organizations, listing you as a co-writer.
- You get 50% of the money the song itself earns: publishing and songwriting royalties and song licensing fees, after any third-party costs (such as collection or distributor fees). Money from the recording itself (for example the recording's share of streaming income) belongs to the recording's owner. To collect your songwriter royalties directly, you can join a performing rights organization such as ASCAP or BMI. We will help.
- Any payments owed to you are made at least once a year, with a simple statement, once your share reaches $25.
- You may not release, sell or license the song or the recording commercially yourself without his written OK.
8Your story and privacy
- Share only what you are comfortable having in a song. If the song names or describes real people, you confirm you are allowed to share those details.
- Your story, email and phone number are used only to make your song and contact you. They are never sold. The session is not recorded or published without your permission.
- Because the song may be released (section 7), tell us at booking if any names or details must stay private. We will keep them out of any released version.
